AfriClimate AI Workshop @ AMLD AFRICA 2024
We are excited to announce the AfriClimate AI Workshop at Applied Machine Learning Days (AMLD) Africa 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya on 26 February 2024. The Workshop aims to aim is to showcase the work of researchers within the AfriClimate AI community.
The workshop has several aims.
Capacity Building: Foster knowledge exchange and skill development among participants by providing hands-on training in AI methodologies specifically relevant to climate science.
Collaborative Research: Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between AI specialists and climate scientists to jointly develop solutions for climate-related challenges in Africa.
Policy Implications: Discuss the policy implications of AI-driven climate research, emphasizing the role of policymakers in utilizing AI insights to formulate effective and sustainable climate policies.
Call for Submissions
We invite researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working at the intersection of climate science and machine learning to submit abstracts for spotlight talks at the inaugural AfriClimate AI workshop @ AMLD AFRICA 2024.
The AfriClimate AI workshop will bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students. to share the latest advancements in using machine learning to address the challenges of climate change in Africa. We welcome abstracts covering a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:
Climate Modeling and Prediction
Remote Sensing and Earth Observation
AI Applications in Agriculture and Water Management
Renewable Energy and Climate Change Mitigation
Natural Disaster Prediction and Response
Ethical AI, Data Sharing and Capacity Building in Climate Research
We seek short, impactful presentations (5 minutes) highlighting innovative research, applications, or initiatives related to the workshop theme. Spotlight talks should be engaging and accessible to a broad audience, including researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students. We encourage submissions from across the climate science and machine learning fields, focusing on topics relevant to Africa.
Abstract Guidelines:
Abstracts should be no more than 300 words.
Abstracts should be clear, concise, and written in English.
Submission deadline: 20 February 2024
Acceptance notification: 22 February 2024
Location: Nairobi, Kenya, Co-located with Applied Machine Learning Days (AMLD) Africa 2024
This workshop will not publish proceedings, and previously published work is welcome.
